What is Endpoint Management?
Endpoint management is an IT process for controlling access rights to network-connected devices, known as "endpoints," and implementing security measures to manage risk. An endpoint is any device that connects to a network, such as laptops, smartphones, Internet of Things (IoT) devices, Point-of-Sale (POS) systems, and others. These devices are authenticated and monitored through an endpoint management tool to protect sensitive information and corporate data.
IT teams often use unified endpoint management (UEM) software to secure and control endpoints through a centralized dashboard. This allows them to apply and enforce security policies, initiate operating system (OS) and application updates, and remotely access registered devices to reset passwords or wipe the device if lost or stolen.
