Answering one operational question in an IT console often takes several steps: open the alerts view, open the helpdesk, filter the device list, and more. For IT managers and managed service providers (MSPs), those steps are often repeated. For teams that already use ChatGPT in their workflows, there’s now a faster way to get those answers.

LogMeIn Resolve is now available as a connector in ChatGPT, OpenAI's AI assistant. It runs on the same Model Context Protocol (MCP) server as our other AI assistant connectors, so ChatGPT gets secure, permission-aware access to your Resolve account. A technician can open ChatGPT and ask, "which devices in the Chicago tenant have been offline for more than 30 days?" or "summarize this week's urgent alerts" and get a live answer from their own Resolve data, without opening the console.

If your team already lives in ChatGPT, nothing about your habits has to change. You sign in with your GoTo login, ChatGPT can only do what you are already allowed to do in Resolve, and every action shows up in Resolve's audit log under your name.

This post walks through a day with Resolve in ChatGPT, what the connector can reach, and how to set it up. For longer cross-tool workflows, see our Claude connector post.

TL;DR

  • LogMeIn Resolve is now a connector in ChatGPT, so IT teams and MSPs can search devices, triage alerts and tickets, draft knowledge base articles, and start remote support sessions in plain language.
  • ChatGPT acts as you: it uses your GoTo sign-in and your existing LogMeIn Resolve permissions, and actions are recorded in the audit log under your name.
  • Remote Execution is read-only: ChatGPT can review runs and logs, but cannot start one.
  • To connect, a workspace admin enables the plugin and its underlying app, then each member installs LogMeIn Resolve from the ChatGPT directory and signs in at identity.goto.com.

What does a day with LogMeIn Resolve in ChatGPT look like?

Our Claude connector post followed full workflows from end-of-life forecasting to cross-tool automation, and those work here too. This time, we take a smaller cut: five moments in an IT day, each a single prompt you can type into ChatGPT. The prompts are examples to adapt, and each one uses only tools the connector has today.

  1. Start the day with a briefing. Prompt: "Give me a Monday morning briefing: new urgent alerts, tickets open more than five days, and failed Remote Execution runs from the weekend." ChatGPT pulls from alerts, helpdesk and Remote Execution and returns one summary in place of three console views. MSPs can ask the same thing across tenants: "Which three tenants have the most unacknowledged urgent alerts this week?"
  2. Pick up a stalled ticket. Prompt: "Pull the full history for ticket [number], summarize what has been tried, and draft a reply to the user." ChatGPT reads the history and comments, writes the summary, and adds a draft comment. You review it before it goes anywhere.
  3. Get connected to the user. Prompt: "Start an attended session for Maria and text her the invite." ChatGPT starts the session and sends the SMS invite, so you are on your way without leaving the chat.
  4. Check the fleet for gaps. Prompt: "List Windows devices that have not checked in for 30 days, grouped by tenant, and flag any that are failing Zero Trust verification." You get a filtered, grouped list you can act on or hand to someone else.
  5. Turn the fix into knowledge. Prompt: "Look at my last ten VPN tickets and turn the fixes into a KB article draft." ChatGPT saves a draft to the Resolve Knowledge Base for your review, so the answer does not stay buried in closed tickets.

Not sure where to start on your own data? Ask ChatGPT directly: "What can you access in my LogMeIn Resolve account?" It will list the areas it can reach and what it is allowed to do in each, based on your own permissions. Then follow up with: "Given what you can see, what are the five most useful things I could ask you to do first?"

What can the LogMeIn Resolve connector reach in ChatGPT?

The connector lets ChatGPT look up and act on your LogMeIn Resolve data in plain language across eight areas: accounts and tenants, devices, alerts, helpdesk tickets, assets and software, the Knowledge Base, Remote Execution results and Remote Support sessions. ChatGPT can search, summarize, create and update records, and start remote support sessions, all within your existing Resolve permissions. Remote Execution is read-only: ChatGPT can review runs and logs but cannot start one.

In MCP terms, a "tool" is one specific action the connector can perform on your behalf, such as searching devices, listing alerts, creating a helpdesk ticket, or publishing a knowledge base draft. You describe the outcome you want, and ChatGPT works out which tools to call, in what order, and with what filters. The tool list is the same across every assistant and grows over time. To see the current list, ask ChatGPT which LogMeIn Resolve tools are available.

The ChatGPT connector complements the AI features in LogMeIn Resolve, such as the Virtual Technician and Dynamic Insights, already in the console. Since the MCP is an open standard, the same tools are available to you in the other AI assistants LogMeIn supports. This also allows the same permissions and audit trail for compliance and governance standards.

How is the LogMeIn Resolve connector secured in ChatGPT?

ChatGPT gets no more access than you have, and everything it does is logged under your name

  1. Sign-in: You sign in with your GoTo account (via OAuth) and approve access. ChatGPT never sees your password, and there are no API keys to manage.
  2.  Permissions: The connector acts as you, so it cannot do anything you cannot do in the Resolve console. Tenant scoping and plan limits still apply.
  3.  Changes: Anything that creates, updates or deletes data is flagged as a write action. According to OpenAI's help article on connected apps, app permission settings determine when ChatGPT asks for your approval before reading information or taking an action, so you can decide how often you are prompted.
  4.  Audit trail: Actions appear in Resolve's normal audit logs as yours.
  5.  Workspace control: OpenAI's admin controls for plugins and apps treat plugin installation and access to underlying apps as separate settings, and Enterprise and Education workspaces can limit access by role. Admins can therefore decide who can use the LogMeIn Resolve connector at all.
  6. Storage and control: The connector does not store your Resolve data. You can disconnect at any time from your ChatGPT settings, and admins control which plugins and apps are available to their workspace.

How to set up the LogMeIn Resolve ChatGPT connector

Workspace admin step (managed workspaces only)

  1. In your ChatGPT workspace's admin settings, open the section that manages plugins and apps.

  1. Find LogMeIn Resolve and make sure it is enabled for your workspace. Default availability varies by plan, so check even if your plan enables apps by default.

  1. Members can now install it and connect individually. If your workspace uses custom roles, confirm the right roles are allowed to use plugins and apps.

Connect in ChatGPT

  1. In ChatGPT, open the directory of plugins and apps and search for LogMeIn Resolve, or go directly to LogMeIn Resolve in the ChatGPT directory.

  1. Select it, review what it includes, and follow the prompts to install and connect it.

  1. Sign in with your GoTo credentials at identity.goto.com and allow access.

  1. Start a new chat and ask about your Resolve data, for example, "Show me urgent alerts from the last 24 hours." ChatGPT uses Resolve's tools whenever your request calls for them.
